Official opening of the Quimper biomethane production plant

On Friday March 10th, the largest biogas plant in Brittany, Western France, has been inaugurated in Guelen, near the city of Quimper. The plant, designed, built and commissioned by Waterleau for Vol-V, will produce 2.2 million m³ of bio-methane each year, feeding the GRDF grid (Gaz Réseau Distribution France) and supplying energy for 10% of Quimper’s population, or two times the annual fuel needed for the city’s public bus park.

COP22 will be held in Marrakech, November 7 to 18, 2016.

The UNFCCC will organize its Conference of the Parties 22 (COP22) in Marrakech highlighting Morocco’s and Marrakech leading role in sustainable development. The Marrakech wastewater treatment plant, designed and built by Waterleau had been validated by the UNFCCC for the Clean Mechanism Development criteria of the Kyoto Protocol for its reduction of CO2 emissions due to the biogas recovery.

Waterleau signs UN Sustainable Development Goals Charter

To promote and to fulfill the UN Sustainable Development Goals together. This is the ambition of more than 80 Belgian companies, civil society organizations and representatives of the public sector signing the Belgian SDG Charter for International Development today in Brussels. Waterleau CEO Bart Goedseels signed the SDG charter for Waterleau. The Belgian SDG Charter is driven by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Development Cooperation Alexander De Croo, who wants to bridge the gap between international development, the private sector and civil society. The Shift, the Belgian meeting point for sustainability, will manage the process.
