LUCAS® anaerobic-aerobic

LUCAS® aerobic/anaerobic is a two-step system with as first step an anaerobic wastewater treatment and as second step an aerobic post-treatment. Depending on the characteristics of the wastewater a high removal efficiency of the organic matter of 80 to 99% is achieved.

How it works

The LUCAS® anaerobic-aerobic system uses a proprietary UASB (Upflow Anaerobic Sludge Blanket) technology as first step. The anaerobic treatment is very effective. For more information see the section on anaerobic wastewater treatment. However, aerobic post-treatment is necessary to obtain nutrient removal and very low BOD effluent values.

Advantages

High COD removal efficiency (up to 90%) in the UASB reactor

High biogas production which can be converted into heat and/or electricity

Low sludge production

Robust and proven technology

Very compact design

Cost effective technology (ROI between 2 and 5 years)
