An official state visit in South Africa by the Belgian King and Queen.

Thursday, Their Majesties King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium attended the Belgium-South Africa Business Forum in #Johannesburg, organized by Ministry of Foreign Affairs Belgium and the dti (Department of Trade and Industry: Republic of South Africa).

Our CEO Bart Goedseels, president of our majority shareholder Group Machiels, Louis Machiels and Waterleau South Africa Director Laurenz Devers had the chance to discuss the water challenges in South-Africa with the Belgian Royals and Her Excellency Mrs, Grace Naledi Pandor, Minister of International Relations and Cooperation at Parliament of the Republic of South Africa.

So many opportunities for sustainable effluent treatment, water treatment and water reuse! Because every drop counts! 💧💙

Visit an effluent treatment plant at ABInbev Alrode

After the formalities, we also took the opportunity to go visit the Waterleau project at ABInbev Alrode brewery, where we are constructing an extension to the existing Effluent treatment plant. This extension of 18tCOD/d anaerobic treatment will be operational by the end of the year.

This site is rapidly expanding to be one of the largest breweries in the southern hemisphere, and Waterleau is proud to be part of this journey.
